What we do
We restore beauty and functionality to caned furniture of all ages from early Carolean (1660s), when caned furniture using stripped rattan cane from Indonesia became popular in Europe, to the Art Deco period (1930s).
The price we charge will be dependent on what we need to do to restore each piece, taking into account what work may be required to ensure structural integrity and what damage may have been caused by subsequent re-upholstery (such as tack holes and abrasions), wear and tear and what remedial work may be needed to address previous restoration and, utimately, the "finish" desired by you, our client.
We are also happy to advise on appropriate squab cushioning in order to complete the aesthetic look of the piece.
The cost of the caning itself will depend on the complexity of the individual piece and will be more for a "floating" medallion or double-sided caning. We are happy to make an estimate based on photographs you send to use of the the individual piece.
